"LA CASA DE DON PEDRO/ spring break  carnival    April 17th, 2009   Newark, NJ

This was the reason why i was teaching Ms Garcia, Ms Nancy, Ms O, and Ms Otero to face paint. We were going to need help painting all the children at this carnival. The day was a hit! With all the activities that were going on our table was the busiest. I was very proud of my ladies. They worked very hard and the two that had actually not had any actual practice did great.
Even "Batman" aka Officer Ortiz of the newark chapter of D.A.R.E. showed up and  I made a big deal ,to the extreme amusement of the children, about having a crush on him. I sent 4 painted jokers out to bring him to me but only one was successful. My models giggled themselves to death as they saw him sneek up behind me to compliment my work.  I don't have a lot of pics because i was so busy, but here are some sent to me by David Castillo , of " la casa".

Mother's Day Project         May 5th, 2009       Artist: Maria Medina

" when life closes all doors, God opens a window!"

This is an actual door that was sent to me by Ms. Silvia Stone, the service coordinator for the East Orange, CPNJ facility, to paint in whatever way i saw fit. I chose to paint the window that God opened for me with my painting and clowning!

EAST ORANGE  CPNJ ADULT DAY CENTER    CARNIVAL DAY  APRIL 3rd, 2009

I made a friend at my daughters' afterschool program. Her teacher, Ms. Garcia is very enthusiastic about face painting so I offered to teach her and three other teachers how to face paint. When my sister's school found out I was giving a class on the same day as their carnival, Ms. Stokes, asked me, " why not bring your class here?"
Of the four ladies, only Ms. Garcia was able to make it that day. It was her first actual facepainting attempt and also her first time working with special needs individuals, but she was very excited to be there.

"La casa de don Pedro", the organization that runs the after school program at my children's school, and the organization for whom Ms. Garcia works, is a community aid group that helps with everything from helping domestic violence victims to after school care and even energy assistance programs.
As you can see everyone had a great time. CPNJ has a new friend in "La Casa De Don Pedro" and I have a great friend in Ms. Garcia!

It's all about giving!

Halloween  2008 at CPNJ

Rafeal Hernandez Elementary Pep Rally!      April 24th, 2009       Go  SHARKS!!!

For this event I limited my designs to the mascott and the school colors. There were so many kids and so little time, that I had to paint two at a time some times. Still , a lot of fun!

Rafael Hernandez Elementary School  Jan/Feb 2009

I try to dedicate as much time as I can to my children's education so I often donate my time for some of their programs. The "CASA DE DON PEDRO"  after school program is one of them . Besides painting for their Christmas show I was allowed to throw a little bithday party for my daughter. Even Ms. Garcia joined in for the fun that day...here are some pics of both days.
