"PATTYSWEETCAKES" IS THE CREATION of MARIA MEDINA, ARTIST, MOTHER AND A NATIVE OF NEWARK, NJ

Maria Medina came to New Jersey at age one from Ponce, Puerto Rico. She grew up in the Ironbound section of Newark. She later moved to the North Newark area, home of Branch Brook Park, the most beautiful park in Newark with it's amazing collection of Cherry Blossom trees.
She attended Arts High School where she majored in Fine Arts and later graduated from N.S.F.I.A with a degree in Textile design, and worked briefly in New York's garment district, before taking a year off to raise her first child. A switch in careers led her to become a dental assistant and continue in the dental field for the next 15 years. She used her background in the arts to design advertising for the dental office itself and work as a freelance cartoonist for a local Paterson News Paper,”la Campanita", illustrating their often saucy jokes and the Horoscope which they still use. A favor for a friend was the catalyst in bringing Pattysweetcakes to life and with Maria's naturally humorous nature, artistic flair, and love of children becoming a favorite at family events became inevitable!
Through the years Pattysweetcakes added a new outfit, and later face painting which has made her the fun character she is today. Take a look at the change. And since laughter is contagious, check out the little ones who couldn't help getting caught up in the fun!
